This tutorial is designed to quickly get your store open for business and selling over the Internet. It is recommended that you follow each of the steps in the order they are presented.
This tutorial will guide you through the following topics:
Pre-requisites
Before beginning this tutorial please ensure that the Multifront application is properly installed and tested successfully on your computer. See the installation guide for more details.
Step 1: Login to the Dashboard
| 1. | Open a web browser to the URL http://www.yourdomain.com/siteadmin where www.yourdomain.com should be replaced with your storefront’s domain name. Note that if the website is installed in your local machine then the domain name would be “localhost” |
| 2. | The Multifront Management Login page is displayed. |
| 3. | Type your administrator user name and password. When the Multifront is first installed the default user name is "admin" and the password is "admin". |
| 5. | Upon successful login, the Dashboard page is displayed. |
Step 2: Create and update store settings
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Stores under Settings. The Stores page will be displayed. |
| 2. | Click Add New Store. The Create Store page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter all relevant details. |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Manage Store page is displayed. |
| 5. | Configure the store by clicking on the relevant tabs and entering the required details. At a minimum must add a URL to your store and add an Anonymous Default Profile and Default Registered Profile for your store to work. |
Step 3: Adding catalogs
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Catalogs under Merchandise. The Catalogs page is displayed listing all the available store catalogs in the storefront. |
| 2. | Click Add New Catalog. The Create catalog page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter Catalog Name and click Submit. The Edit Catalog page is displayed. |
| 4. | Click Associate Department to associate departments with this Catalog. The Associate Department with Catalog page is displayed. |
| 5. | Enter all relevant details. |
| 6. | Click Submit. The Edit Catalog page is displayed listing the associated departments under the Department tab. |
Step 4: Adding departments
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Departments under Merchandise. The Departments page is displayed. |
| 2. | Click Add New Department. The Add Department page is displayed |
| 3. | Enter the details for this department . |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Manage Department page is displayed with the department details listed under the Department Information tab. |
| 5. | Click on the Associated Products tab. This will allow you to add products to this department. Next click Add Product. |
| 6. | Click Back to List Page. The Departments page is displayed. The newly added department is displayed in the list. |
| 7. | Repeat steps 1 through 5 until all the departments are added. |
Step 5: Adding products
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Products under Merchandise. The Products page is displayed. |
| 2. | Click Add New Product. The Add New Product page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter the details for this product. |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Product Details page is displayed. |
| 5. | Click Back to List Page. The Products page is displayed. |
| 6. | Repeat points 2 through 5, till all the products are added to the storefront. |
Step 6: Adding shipping options
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Shipping under Settings. The Shipping page is displayed listing the current shipping options. |
| 2. | Click Add New Shipping Option. Add a Shipping Option page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter the shipping details. |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Shipping page is displayed listing the newly added shipping option. |
| 5. | Repeat points 2 through 4, till all shipping options are configured on the storefront. |
Note: You must add at least one shipping rule for each shipping option in order to use it in your storefront. Shipping rules determine shipping costs based on quantity, weight and other parameters.
Step 7: Adding shipping rules
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Shipping under Settings. The Shipping page is displayed listing the current shipping options. |
| 2. | Click View on the shipping option for which you want to add shipping rules. Shipping Option page is displayed listing its general information and the shipping rules applicable for this option. |
| 3. | Click Add Rule. Add a Shipping Rule page is displayed. |
| 4. | Enter the details for this shipping rule. |
| 5. | Click Submit. The Shipping Option page is displayed listing the newly added shipping rule. |
| 6. | Repeat points 3 through 5 till all shipping rules are added for this shipping option. |
| 7. | Repeat point 2 through 6, till shipping rules are added for all shipping options in the storefront. |
Step 8: Adding tax class and tax rules
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Tax Classes under Settings. The Tax Class page is displayed listing the current tax classes for the storefront. |
| 2. | Click Add Tax Class. Add a Tax Class page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter the details for this tax class. |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Tax Class page is displayed listing details of the newly added tax class. |
| 5. | Click Add Tax Rule to add tax rules for the newly created tax class. Add a Tax Rule page is displayed. |
| 6. | Enter the details for this tax rule. |
| 7. | Click Submit. The Tax Class page is displayed listing the newly added tax rule under Tax Rule List. |
| 8. | Repeat points 5 through 7, till all Tax rules for this Tax Class is added. |
| 9. | Repeat points 2 through 8, till all tax classes and their tax rules are added to the storefront. |
| 10. | You will now see your new Tax Classes available when configuring Products. |
Note: You must add at least one tax rule for each tax class in order to use it in your storefront.
Step 9: Configuring payment options
| 1. | From the Dashboard page, click Payments under Settings. The Payment Options page is displayed. |
| 2. | Click Add New Payment Option. Add a Payment Option page is displayed. |
| 3. | Enter the details for this payment setting. |
| 4. | Click Submit. The Payment Options page is displayed listing the newly added payment option. |
| 5. | Repeat points 2 through 3, till all payment settings are configured on the storefront. |
Note: The final payment in the shopping cart checkout is disabled in the Free Trial version of the storefront.
Step 10: Testing the Multifront
| 1. | Open a web browser to the URL http://www.yourdomain.com (note there is no "/admin" at the end of the URL) where www.yourdomain.com should be replaced with your storefront’s domain name. Note that if the website is installed in your local machine then the domain name would be “localhost". |
This is just a start! There are many more things you can do with your storefront. Specifically if you sell products that come with different attributes such as clothing which has size and color, you will want to view the section on Merchandise. Remember to test your catalog and ordering process thoroughly before turning the site live in production.
